Daylilies (Hemorocallis)

Daylilies have been under cultivation for centuries and there are now hundreds of different varieties.  They got their name from the fact that their flowers only last for one day but a mature plant can produce 50 or more flowers in a summer.  Some of the newer daylilies are rebloomers whose flowers last more than one day and they bloom for a longer period producing more flowers than the standard varieties.  There are an amazing array of flower colours and sizes available.  By carefully selecting plants with different bloom periods, it is possible to have flowers all season or a daylily bed that changes colours over the growing season.  These plants are very hardy and relatively pest free.  They can be grown in everything from part shade to full sun but produce more flowers in full sun.  All our daylilies are hardy to zone 2/3.  Attractive to butterflies and humming birds.
